There is no universal size chart for every jeans style. Baggy, flare, straight, mom fit, and wide leg jeans fit differently, so each garment requires separate consideration of its cut, fabric properties, stretch, and the measurements of its target customers.

Why one size chart is not enough

A correctly developed size chart is especially important for women’s jeans. Women’s styles differ in rise, waist and hip measurements, leg width, and the distribution of ease. A chart cannot simply be copied from another garment: it must match the specific design.

Baggy jeans need additional room through the hips and legs. For flared jeans, the fit at the waist and hips, the knee position, and the width of the leg opening must be calculated precisely. Even the correct size on the label will not ensure a good fit if the fabric is unsuitable or the patterns are wrong.

Men’s jeans size charts also depend on the cut. Measurements for a classic straight style will not work for an oversized or baggy fit. Waist and hip circumference, inseam length, rise, and freedom of movement all need to be considered.

What we check before starting production

  • Whether the style is intended for women or men.
  • The fit and rise.
  • The fabric’s stretch and how it behaves during wear.
  • Shrinkage after washing and denim processing.
  • The key measurements in the technical brief.
  • Whether the patterns match the approved size chart.

How fabric affects fit

Heavy denim without elastane has very little stretch, while fabric containing elastane can change its fit during wear. Shrinkage may occur after washing. These factors need to be included in the calculations before bulk production and checked on a sample.

A correct jeans size chart reduces returns and negative reviews. Customers understand which size to choose, and the finished garment matches the stated measurements.

How SWIFORT develops jeans for a brand

Giving a factory a size chart is not enough. The denim must be selected, patterns developed, a sample sewn, and a fitting carried out. Only after the necessary adjustments should the chart be approved.

SWIFORT helps develop jeans under your brand by selecting fabric, making and adjusting the sample, achieving the required fit, and preparing a size chart for women’s or men’s styles before the production run begins.
